The short version: StoryStow has no account. Your notes, links, photos, files and voice notes are stored only on your device. The one time anything leaves your device automatically is to fetch a preview for a link you save — and even then the link isn't stored.
What we collect & store
Nothing about you. StoryStow has no account and no user database. Your notes, links, photos, files, voice notes, labels, profile name and avatar are kept only in the app's local storage on your device. We can't see them, and we don't have a server that holds them.
Your content
Content you add to StoryStow — by typing, recording, or sharing into it from other apps — is saved locally on your device and never leaves it, except when you choose to. When you use Export or Forward, or share something out through the iOS share sheet, that content goes only where you send it, using Apple's standard sharing.
Link previews
When you save a link, StoryStow fetches a title and thumbnail so it can show a preview. To do this, the link's web address (URL) is sent to our preview service and to Google's favicon service. This request is transient: the URL is used only to fetch the preview and is not stored or linked to you (there is no account or identifier). Our hosting provider may retain standard infrastructure request logs briefly, but they are never used to profile or identify you. Some previews are fetched directly by your device from the linked site, the same way a browser would. If you'd rather not fetch a preview, simply don't save the link.
Permissions
- Photos / files: used only to attach media you pick or share into your thread. StoryStow does not browse or upload your library.
- Microphone: used only when you record a voice note. Recordings are saved on your device and are not uploaded.
- Notifications: if you turn on the optional daily reminder, it is a local notification scheduled on your device. There is no push server and no data leaves your device.
- Share Extension: receives the item you share from another app and adds it to your on-device thread.
Analytics & tracking
StoryStow does not track you and does not include third-party advertising or content analytics. If anonymous, content-free usage counts are ever added, this policy will be updated first, and they will never include your notes or personal data.
Deleting your data
You can erase everything at any time in Settings → Delete all data. Because your data lives only on your device, deleting the app also removes all of it.
Children
StoryStow is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13.
